Sticking With Your Meal Plan

Once you know the basics of healthy eating, you may enjoy your new meal plan more than you expect. But just in case there are some challenges, here are more steps that may make it easier to follow a healthy meal plan:

Be creative with your food choices

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring. There are a lot of healthy recipes and food items to choose from.

Try not to eat to cope with stress

Some people eat to deal with stress (stress eating) or as a reward for reaching a goal. Try the following activities instead:

  • A low-impact activity, like yoga
  • Meditation
  • Listening to music
  • Taking a walk

Healthier rewards for following your plan might include:

  • Buying yourself a nonfood treat
  • Going to a play or a sporting event
  • Reading a book
  • Taking a day trip with a loved one
  • A spa day
  • Asking friends over for a game night
